Woman Noticed Something Furry In A Trash Pile And Was Shocked By Her Discovery

For Donna Lochmann, a chief life-saving officer in Missouri, saving animals in need is not only a job – it’s a mission.

One day, seven years ago, while driving around the city looking for a particular dog, she noticed something odd moving in a mound of trash. As she got closer, she discovered the most heartbreaking surprise hiding among trash bags.

Curled up in a ball, this helpless creature completely blended in with his dark coat.

At that very moment, Donna rushed into action, a choice that would prove life-changing for both of them!

Is That A Furry Friend In Need

Donna didn’t know whether this poor dog would get spooked and run away, so she decided to take things slowly.

She addressed him in the calmest way possible before approaching him. The dog was extremely malnourished and skinny, and instead of running away, he completely gave in.

He just lay there, not even raising his head until Donna was right next to him.

Then, he gave her the most heartbreaking look ever. His lonely eyes gave away a sad backstory, one of abandonment and neglect. And, when Donna finally had him in her arms, the dog felt loved for the first time in forever.

His ribs were visible, and Donna knew that she had to help him as soon as possible.

Within minutes, the two were on their way to Stray Rescue of St. Louis, Missouri, where they would figure out the best solution for this tiny boi.

As it turned out, fate had amazing plans for the dog. That’s why the team named him Kismet, which means “fate.” He was transferred to a loving foster home with a woman named Nikki. Within just a few months, Kismet started gaining weight and transforming into a happy dog.

“He’s doing wonderfully. He’s gaining weight (yay!) and has started wagging his tail and loves to give kisses. He sleeps a lot on any soft surface he can find.

Kismet is such an awesome dog,” Nikki said to his rescuers.

Still Going Strong Seven Years Later

It didn’t take long for Nikki and her entire family to fall deeply in love with Kismet. His sweet, affectionate nature really dazzled everyone, which is why she decided to keep him for good.

“They officially adopted him and love him to pieces. Look how amazing he is doing! She says he is the most amazing dog and she’s actually the lucky one,” the rescue wrote in a Facebook post.

Kismet and Nikki embarked upon a wonderful journey together, and this once-abandoned boy finally got to experience all the joys of living in a comfy home.

Recently, the rescue received the most amazing update from Nikki and Kismet. Seven years after he was found by Donna, Kismet is now a big, sturdy dog who loves his new family more than anything.

Instead of trash, he now sleeps in a big bed with his momma and enjoys having plenty of toys to play with.

“He sleeps in the big bed with her. He’s so happy. He loves toys. He’s a healthy, beefy, boy. His eyes sparkle. He lights up any room he walks into,” the rescue added in the most recent update.

Once dumped in a pile of trash with no hope for a better tomorrow, it is safe to say that Kismet is a brand-new dog today… all thanks to giant-hearted people who gave him a chance!
