While reading through many rescue stories, there is one element that is common about all of them, and that is the fact that so many dogs end up suffering because of other humans.

I don’t know what it is about people that some of them think it’s okay to just injure or abuse other dogs without consequences. How anyone can hurt an innocent dog is just baffling.

Kahlua was no exception. Even though she was the sweetest dog ever, she was struck by a terrible tragedy.

She was in a horrible accident and ended up with serious injuries. While it seemed like all hope was lost, her rescuers wanted to give her a new chance to enjoy her life regardless of this tragedy.

A Hopeful Rescue

When Kahlua was first found by her saviors on the streets of Virginia, she was in horrible shape. Her leg looked seriously injured and they had little hope of saving it.

She was immediately taken in by the clinic where she received a thorough examination to make sure they had the proper diagnosis.

Once they realized that her front left leg could not be saved, they decided to amputate it. She also had a fractured pelvis, but it wasn’t anything too alarming.

When the time was right, the rescuers performed the surgery and everything went smoothly. Kahlua was now on a path of recovery.

Even though it was going to take her a while, and she would need to learn how to walk differently, Kahlua was not discouraged at all.

With the help of her veterinarians, she was making slow but steady progress toward her goal, and she was very persistent the whole time.

Kahlua Meets Her New Dad

She would change gradually, and her mood improved… almost like a huge weight had been lifted off her, and she was doing a lot better.

Her confidence grew and she wanted to play more with each day despite the fact that she had been through so much in such a short time.

The rescuers were happy to see her progress, and there was strong hope that they would be able to find her a new family in Virginia.

Eventually, her health would improve a lot and the rescuers thought it would be appropriate to place her on an adoption list.

As fate would have it, Kahlua was able to find and meet her new dad who decided to adopt her and give her the chance to enjoy her life in her forever home.

Even though this dog has had to endure so much, Kahlua’s cheerful personality shows us just how strong she was and how much it means for her to be with her special person. I am so happy everything turned out great for her. She deserves it.
