There are few creatures on this earth who are as compassionate as dogs. They always seem to carry hope and kindness in their hearts, even when they’ve haven’t always received such kindness themselves.

A stray pup in Turkey recently showed proof of a pure and selfless soul when he noticed a man in distress and felt compelled to help him.

The stray spotted a man lying on the ground, stiff with pain, and immediately attempted to comfort the man.

The worried pup approached the man, sniffed him, and then hugged him by resting his head on the man’s chest and curling his body around him.

At this time, the man began smiling and petting the dog as other men appeared and also began petting the confused, but happy, pup.

As it turns out, the man wasn’t actually hurt. He was a street performer named Numan Ertuğrul Uzunsoy who was acting out a scene in which his character had fallen off his horse and gotten hurt.

His performance was apparently believable enough for the compassionate stray to feel sorry for him and want to help him.

“I felt warmth on my face. First, I thought my costar was approaching me,” Uzunsoy told The Dodo in an interview.

When Uzonsoy realized what was happening, he couldn’t help but smile and thank the sweet pup for his concern.

The pup was overjoyed to find that Uzunsoy was feeling okay, and happily accepted pats and scritches from Uzonsoy’s co-stars while the deeply touched audience applauded the little dog for his heart-melting display of compassion.

Once the misunderstanding was cleared up, the pup was gently ushered off the “stage.”

The pup stayed and watched the play for a while, but before the show was over, the pup walked off and disappeared.

But Uzunsoy has been told that the pup often hangs out around that same location, and so he’s determined to find the pup again help him find a loving home.

Uzunsoy won’t give up until the little pup can be rewarded for his kindness and gets to feel as safe and happy as he made Uzunsoy feel in that moment.
