A couple of months back, while working at a furniture store in the city of Neuquén, Argentina, employee Giselle Morales was alerted by a customer to an unusual situation.

Turns out, someone with clearly no intention of making a purchase had snuck into the store — and was now sleeping on one of the store’s display beds up front.

Morales headed straight there.

Sure enough, a random stray dog had apparently found his way inside Morales’ shop and into the display bed.

Rather than shoo the pup away, however, Morales tucked him so he’d be even cozier.

“What are you doing? Are you testing our mattress? It’s very cold in Neuquén,” Morales can be heard saying on video. “Well, we’re going to let you stay here.”

Later, as the workday wound down, Morales decided that she couldn’t simply send the dog back outside.

“It was cold that night and he was shivering,” Morales told The Dodo.

So, she invited the sheepish pup to come on home with her.

Unfortunately, Morales wasn’t able to offer the dog — now named Roman — a permanent home with her. But she made it her mission to find him a family he could call his own.

And over the next few weeks together, until that day came, Morales showed Roman it was safe for him to come out of his shell.

“He’s a very cuddly and playful dog,” Morales said.

The pup who’d snuck into her store had now snuck his way into her heart, as well.

Morales knew it would be difficult to part ways with Roman when the time came for him to be adopted — but in the end, she didn’t fully have to.

“He was adopted by a friend of my sister. So he stayed in the family,” Morales said. “I see him every now and then and take him for a walk.”

The day that Morales had found Roman curled up in one of her store’s display beds is one she’ll never forget — but what came after has been even more unforgettable.

“He found love,” Morales said. “His story has a very happy ending.”

Roman’s new dad, Eze Acuña, couldn’t be more thrilled to give it to him.

“Remember that video where he was found lying in a bed at a shop?” Acuña told The Dodo. “He looks so fearful and vulnerable. Now he is a different dog.”
