Rescuers Stunned to Learn Dog Lost His Home Twice

Stella has always been a people-oriented dog.

Even in the hardest of times, she never held a grudge against anyone, despite having every reason to do so.

Abandoned heartlessly by the person she loved the most, this happy-go-lucky pooch was left all confused and traumatized. Eventually, she found refuge at a New Jersey shelter, but her luck just kept slipping away at no fault of her own.

Original Owner Abandoned Her On A Busy Highway

Stella joined the Associated Humane Popcorn Park Shelter team in Forked River, New Jersey after being found roaming a busy highway. She ended up there after her owner decided to abandon her and drive away for good.

“She was abandoned on a busy highway by some heartless person.  All of that is behind her now and she’s focused on the future,” AHPPS wrote.

Despite the initial shock and trauma, Stella quickly adapted to the new circumstances – and became the most loving dog ever! It took her only a few days to surprise everyone with how genuinely sweet she was.

“Stella never holds anything against anyone though, and she positively loves people. She’s so mild-mannered, sweet, loving, playful, she’s so well behaved and has had plenty of training too,” AHPPS wrote on Facebook.

Her affectionate nature, however, still didn’t bring her the happy ending she deserved! Stella watched her furry buddies come and go to forever homes while no applications came in for her.

For some reason, she was overlooked by absolutely everyone, even though she continued to dazzle people at adoption events, or basically everywhere she went.

That didn’t prevent Stella from keeping her hopes high, though.

Stella’s positive attitude brought her many friends along the way, including dozens of volunteers who fell in love with her incredible spirit.

Still, months passed, then years, but nobody arrived to give Stella a new chance at life.

Then, hope emerged again!

Both Times Were Bad Luck

After two long years at the shelter, the phone finally rang! And, you guessed it right, it was finally about Stella!

An adopter arrived at the shelter to pick up this sweet girl, and everyone thought that was the end of it. However, after only a few days, Stella was returned.

The same happened a few days later.

For reasons that were beyond her understanding, this loving canine couldn’t keep her place at her adopters’ homes. The first time was due to her owner being older and unable to handle her on a leash. The second time was due to her family’s allergies.

“Adopted, returned. Adopted, returned. And that’s all in just a few days! (No, Stella didn’t do anything wrong…. allergies were involved one time, a change of mind the next time…),” the New Jersey shelter wrote.

Seeing this enthusiastic girl come back to the same old kennel two times after finally finding her forever home was truly heartbreaking!

And, the worst part? It was nothing but bad luck. Stella’s returns to the shelter were not caused by her bad behavior.

Right now, she’s adjusting to being a shelter dog again. Yet, she still hopes that the day will come when she is matched with the right person in a home filled with love and endless adventures.

Good luck, sweet girl!
