Rescuer Spots Movement in Trash and Finds 3 Puppies Cuddled Together

They say one man’s trash is another man’s treasure. When it comes to the puppies found huddled together in a garbage pile in rural Missouri, that adage couldn’t be more true.

It was a freezing cold day this winter when someone noticed the dogs living alone, exposed to the elements. A Good Samaritan posted a picture of the dogs to social media and tagged local rescues, asking for help. When Stray Rescue of St. Louis CEO Cassady Caldwell saw the heartbreaking images, she knew she had to do something. She told rescuers that if they could get the dogs to the shelter, they’d be happy to take them in.

“All of these stories sadden us, but when it’s dangerously cold outside and we see these little ones, just babies, out there surviving on their own, it kills us,” a representative from Stray Rescue St. Louis told The Dodo. “We were so thankful we could say yes and couldn’t wait to meet them.”

Stray Rescue of St. Louis staff named the puppies Harmonica, Banjo and Fiddle. They gave them plenty of food and water and commenced a treatment plan to deal with their health issues. Finally safe, the puppies relaxed and began to play, letting their guard down.

“They have a lot of puppyhood to catch up on,” Stray Rescue of St. Louis wrote in a Facebook post.

Fiddle, the mostly white puppy, has already been adopted into a loving home. Now, rescuers are set on finding equally suitable families for Banjo and Harmonica.

With any luck, these two won’t be waiting much longer.

“Harmonica and Banjo are both in foster homes, loving life and ready to be adopted,” the representative said. “They are super sweet puppies so would do well in just about any kind of home! They love other animals, all people, and love to cuddle and play!”
