Rescued Puppy Overcomes Trauma After Being Abandoned and Tied to Tree

A compassionate rescuer found an anguished puppy, now called Weezer, trembling and injured in the snow in St. Louis. The distressing scene unfolded as the puppy howled in fear, highlighting the urgency of its condition.

The seven-month-old puppy was discovered curled up against a wooden post, covered in bruises and cuts. Rescuer Donna Lochmann, from Stray Rescue of St. Louis, approached the frightened animal with comforting words and captured the emotional moment on video.

When the police arrived, Weezer let out terrified alerts, warning the officer away. Despite his anguish, Donna’s calm presence began to soothe him, which helped ease his anxiety as she tried to place a collar around his neck.

But the puppy begins to whimper when they get back to Donna's car and seems to trust her as  it lets her strokes its neck

The video showed an intense struggle between the puppy’s instinct to flee and his growing trust in Donna. Eventually, Weezer allowed her to secure a pink leash around his neck, revealing a glimmer of hope amidst his fear.

But the puppy began to whimper when they returned to Donna’s car, seeming to trust her as he let her stroke his neck.

Although the puppy faced serious health issues, including an infection and a condition known as parvovirus, the prognosis became more promising after treatment.

And as soon as the two entered the warmth of Donna’s Jeep, the dog, later named Weezer, wagged his tail and licked her hand.

Today, Weezer is recovering well and is expected to find a permanent home full of love. This story serves as a powerful reminder of the resilience of animals and the impact of compassion in rescue efforts.
