In February 2014, Mikhail was one of 121 dogs and more than 60 other animals that were rescued from a suspected Jefferson County, Ark., puppy mill after authorities discovered them living in filth and suffering from a lack of basic care.
The Humane Society of The United States’ (HSUS) Animal Rescue Team was there to facilitate the rescue.
“The Youtube video that the HS had put out of this rescue – that was the first I had seen of it after I had already rescued him,” says Mikhail’s mom, Melita Yearwood. “I could not believe the condition he was in. It was horrible.”
When rescued, Mikhail was more mat than dog.
After he was shaved down, he was already looking like a new dog.
Yearwood immediately fell in love with him and called to see if he was available. She went to the foster parent to visit him and that was it.
What a transformation a bit of love and good care can make!
Now, he is a loving son with a poodle sister named Destiny.
Thanks to Yearwood, Mikhail is getting a second chance at a very good life.
Mikhail is pampered and spoiled – just as he should be! His mom tells everyone he is the reason you should adopt, because there are so many out there that need help and they appreciate it – they give back unconditional love she says. This wonderful video was shot by the HSUS as part of their Forever Home series, which was create to show the amazing transformation these animals have gone through since being rescued by the HSUS Animal Rescue Team.
