Rescued from a harrowing life as bait dogs, two pups now find solace in the warmth of love and care, beginning a journey of healing and renewal -ltbl

The story of animal abuse and cruelty has long been a cause for concern, especially recently  , when images and clips of brutal animal abuse and cruelty have been continuously posted on social networking sites.

Recently, an American man’s touching letter condemning the dog fighting problem in Vietnam has haunted the online community once again. That is the pitiful, pitiful fate of dogs that are trained and coached by a group of people to become warriors in dog fights. And after the games, the price these people have to pay for their moments of joy is the image of the dog with painful, patchy wounds…

Posted along with the letter is a picture of a “pathetic” Pit bull after a dog fight, just as the author described: “The image I see here is a poor dog bleeding, its gums torn, its paws injured and its ears bitten off.”

The story gives us another perspective on a group of people who consider animal abuse a hobby and sends a warning to the animal-loving community: “We have not yet stopped dog fighting, but if we do nothing, we will never stop it!”

Hello everyone in Hanoi,

During my time here, I have seen many beautiful sides of you, but what I saw today in Quang Ba area, Tay Ho made me feel troubled. The image I saw here was a poor dog bleeding, its gums were torn, its paws were injured and its ears were bitten off. Many people gathered at the park this afternoon to watch the dog fight.

After being forced to fight another dog, this poor dog was tied to a tree, still bleeding and in pain, while the organizers of this dog fight leisurely drank tea and coffee at the cafe on the right side of the park. Aside from the completely senseless cruelty and cruelty of this “sport” (if you can call it that), these people are also putting our lives in danger.

Dogs that are trained to fight are very harsh. After participating in a fight, these dogs are not only physically traumatized but also severely psychologically. If you or your child walk by a dog that is mentally affected like this, it is possible that the dog will try to bite you.

If you are walking your dog, traumatized dogs will try to bite your dog, and bite you too. They will attack because that is all their owners trained them to do.

I think we cannot let these people continue to put our lives in danger.

If you recognise the men in these pictures, I beg you, please talk to them and try to make them understand the brutality of dog fighting, and the dangers they pose to us.

IF YOU WANT TO TAKE ACTION: Please share this article, especially on animal-loving forums or facebook pages. Please inform me of places where you have seen dog fighting and the time when it happened (if it happens frequently). If you have photos and information, locations of these places, inbox me their photos and information.

With an urgent appeal, immediately after being posted, the letter attracted special attention from the online community. Many people expressed their anger and shame for the dog owner and of course, they could not help but feel sorry for the image of the poor dog being turned into a tool for human entertainment.

“Those people not only see it as a hobby but also as a profession that makes money, and it’s even published in newspapers. I really don’t understand if they have any psychological problems,” said a PK member.

“I strongly condemn this. It is barbaric and dangerous. I was once scared when I had to hold my little dog up high when I saw another fierce dog attacking it. I was also afraid that it would bite me. It turned out that it was being trained for such barbaric pleasures. Did they think that if they did that, it would make the dog become aggressive, psychologically damaged and attack their own children or relatives. I think it’s all for money. They fight dogs for money. It’s like cockfighting. It’s like gambling. If cockfighting for money will result in arrest and imprisonment, then I think dog fighting should also be punished. This action needs to be condemned and stopped,” another internet user also expressed his opinion.

Contacting the author of this letter, Mr. Justin Bimbernik, he said these images were taken after a dog fight that he witnessed at Quang Ba Park, West Lake at around 3pm on Sunday (December 6).

Sharing with reporters, he said: “We passed by Quang Ba Park and saw a crowd of people shouting and screaming. Most people passing by avoided this group. When I got closer, I realized that it was two pit bulls in the middle of a battle with blood all over them.

Not knowing what to do, we continued walking but later we turned back and decided to take our cameras (I didn’t take my phone). When we came back, the fight was over but one of the dogs was tied to a tree and left there with blood all over it as you can see in the picture. I stopped and took a picture, at the same time I heard laughter behind me.

At the cafe right where the dog was tied, there was a group of men and one of them was definitely the dog’s owner. I suspected the others were spectators or bettors from the dog fights. I went around them and started taking pictures, some of them ran to the back of the cafe and started hiding their faces, some continued to laugh,” the man shared.

“I know there was some dog fighting the Sunday before and after the fight the dog got so angry that it bit the owner. There was no one else in the area except the dog fighters as everyone else was terrified and afraid of the dogs, and who knows, they were also afraid of the owners”…
