The saddest thing about dogs ending up in shelters is that they do not even have the chance to show the world what they are worth.
It doesn’t just mean that they cannot express all their love, but also their talents because, believe it or not, dogs have them, too.
The same fate awaited one furry being in a New York shelter when she was put on the euthanasia list. Yet, good people stepped in at the last moment, providing her with a foster home, and eventually a forever one.
These people had no idea what talents this dog was hiding before they saw it with their own eyes.
She Surprised Everyone
Vanessa and Ryan Marquette were heartbroken because of the fate of one dog in a New York shelter. That was exactly why they decided to foster her. After a few months of fostering, they adopted her from North Country Pet Adoptions.
“She was already house-trained and everything, but her sister got adopted, so she was by herself. We think that because she is blind in one eye, people overlooked her. So we fostered her and then ended up adopting her three months later,” Vanessa told PEOPLE.
They named her Nola and immediately realized it was a great decision that they gave her a forever home because she adapted very quickly.
Yet, they soon heard from her pet sitter some unbelievable feats about her jumping the tall fence in their home yard. They couldn’t believe that because they knew that Nola rarely jumped inside the house.
However, when they moved to their new home in Syracuse, New York, they started hearing the same statements from their new neighbors.
Because of that, the couple decided to secretly spy on Nola to see for themselves. Finally one day, Vanessa got the chance to see Nola scaling the home’s six-foot-tall fence. After several failed attempts, she finally took a photo and showed it to Ryan.
These two couldn’t believe it but they were more than delighted by this dog’s secret talent.
Considering that this was her morning routine, they continued to record it and post the videos on her Instagram profile, @noseynola.

Online And A Local Celebrity
It did not take long for Nola to become a local celebrity because there wasn’t a day when one of the neighbors didn’t see her enjoying her jumping activity.
That was exactly why Vanessa and Ryan started posting her videos on Instagram where she soon became an online celebrity as well.

However, what was most important, they found out the secret behind her specific talent.
“The first time she went viral, everyone’s like, ‘Must be a Treeing Walker.’ I was like, ‘What are they talking about?’” Vanessa recalls. “Then I Googled it, and I was like, ‘Oh, maybe.’ So then we did her DNA test, and sure enough, she was like 26% Treeing Walker Coonhound.”
That finally explained the fact that their other dogs, including Toby, couldn’t in their wildest dreams do the same thing Nola was capable of. However, that did not prevent them from following her and admiring her incredible talent themselves.
Nola truly brought immense joy to her new home and her new parents and other dogs, as well as the neighbors and all the people who follow her on Instagram.
She is a living example that all dogs deserve a chance in life and that they are beings who do not belong in a shelter where all their potential talents will perish.
