A puppy was recently found abandoned in Wales — and a note on his collar revealed a heartbreaking story 😢💔
But now this pup is in safe hands and looking for a new start.
The puppy was found in August in Bridgend, Wales. A note taped to his collar revealed that his name is Chase, and his first birthday is in November.
Heartbreakingly, the note also revealed that Chase had been intentionally abandoned by his previous owner, who could no longer care for him.
“I am very friendly and kind, good with kids. I need a new home as my owner cannot take care of me. Please help me. Thank you.”
Chase was taken in by the local Hope Rescue. According to Wales Online, the poor pup was “very nervous” and “shell-shocked” when he first arrived.
“He spent a lot of time just hiding away in his kennel,” they said. “He was very nervous and didn’t want to go on walks, interact with toys or other dogs. We gave him a lot of TLC to try and build his confidence.”
They also said that it was “frustrating” that Chase was abandoned like this, even given the circumstances: “We understand that sometimes people are in desperate situations, but this wasn’t the way to try and find him a suitable home. He had the trauma of running loose, he could have been hit by a car, anything could have happened to him.”
“With the animal welfare sector in crisis, we know how hard it is to find rescue spaces right now, but we would urge owners to still call local and breed rescues and try their hardest to wait for a space,” they wrote on Instagram.
Still, while sharing Chase’s story on social media they hoped that the owner “will see this post and know that he is safe.”
Chase has been placed in a foster home, and it’s already making all the differences: the rescue says that his “playful side” is coming out, and they hope he will be able to find a forever home very soon.
“Although he’s been through a really stressful situation, we’re hoping that now he is on the way up and will have a lovely life with his people,” they told Wales Online.
It’s always heartbreaking when a pup is abandoned by their owner, but we are glad that Chase is doing well in foster care and hope he finds a forever home soon!
