Pup Spends Days Freezing in Portable Toilet in Michigan Before Being Rescued by Park Worker

Animal cruelty: two words that carry so much pain, betrayal, neglect, and struggle for our four-legged friends.

It’s a harsh reality that dedicated animal rescuers try to eradicate every day. And, just when it seems they have made significant progress, another case surfaces and breaks our hearts again.

Recently, the public in Michigan was appalled by one such case that took place at Creasey Bicentennial.

After being abandoned by his owner, a Pitbull puppy named Hank was found covered in dirt and feces in a portable toilet, struggling to find a way out for more than two days.

Abandoned By Owner

A park employee, Jacob Kross, was doing his regular work when he heard helpless yelping coming from one of the porta-potties. When he opened the door, the scene inside the toilet left him truly shocked.

A young Pittie puppy left with only a small bowl of food was all covered in feces and dirt. He was desperately searching for a way out after being abandoned there by an owner who had closed the door and left.

Kross reported this case of abuse to the Grand Blanc Township Police Department. The team of officers immediately responded to the call.

“He was abandoned for more than two days at the park,” Chief Renye says in the video posted on the Department’s official Facebook page.

Despite his ordeal, Hank did not lose his puppy spark. He had a wagging tail and wore a big smile on his face after being rescued, indicating how happy he was to be found at last.

He was immediately transferred to Grand Blanc Veterinary Hospital for further assessment. In no time, Hank captivated everyone’s hearts!

The Department later found that Hank’s owner, a 25-year-old female, abandoned him because her “landlord said Pitbulls were not allowed in the apartment.”

The owner was arrested and the case is still under investigation.

Hank’s situation, on the other hand, has taken an unexpected turn!

After getting a clean bill of health from his vets, this resilient pup received more exciting news. Jacob, the man who found him, and his wife, Jenna, decided to provide him with a permanent home!

“He’s just the cutest and the sweetest and he’s so lucky to have a wonderful new family and so many new friends to help care for him,” GB Veterinary Hospital stated on Facebook.

Hank could not be happier in his new home. Although he’s still working toward a full recovery, he displayed his true colors right off the bat.

He’s sweet, cuddly, and already gaining weight.

“He was super skinny, underweight when my husband found him. We are getting weight back on him. He is doing good and happy,” Jenna wrote in the comment section under the GBTPD video.

Hanks’ owners and the Department urge pet owners to take care of their furry friends and, if needed, turn to animal care facilities instead of abandoning them.

“Be a responsible pet owner. Remember, you chose the animal, the animal didn’t choose you. We will be the voice for animals that go through animal cruelty,” Chief Renye concluded.
