Pitbull Abandoned with Only a Blanket and Food Finds Love and a New Home

Abandonment is a long-term trauma that often leaves lifetime scars on dogs. I mean, can we blame them?

Imagine having a family one day and waking up the next day to a whole new reality. Mia, a Pittie cruelly abandoned by her family in Newark, New Jersey, knows this feeling all too well.

After being a good girl in a warm home for so long, this three-year-old Pit Bull found herself tied to a fence in the middle of the night. All she had left from her owners was a little blanket and some food, leaving her with countless unanswered questions…

Who Would Do Such A Cruel Thing

Yasmin Rivera, a volunteer at the New Jersey rescue, Jersey Pits Rescue, stumbled upon Mia completely unexpectedly. She was on her feeding tour at night when she came across a heartbreaking sight.

Mia, the Pittie, was tied up and unable to leave the spot where her owners had left her.

“Being abandoned by your family, tied to a fence, left alone in the middle of the night in Newark. I wonder what went through her mind as she watched her ‘family’ walk or drive away,” JPR wrote on Instagram.

All she had with herself was some food that her family had left and a tiny blanket to lie on. Still, when Yasmin approached her with kind words and a gentle touch, Mia was more than happy.

In a way, it was as if she had already accepted her fate, knowing that Yasmin was her next savior. And, indeed, she was!

The two spent the night in Yasmin’s truck, enjoying some tasty takeout and spending time getting to know each other. The very next day, she was in Yasmin’s home, meeting her family and friends!

Despite her heartbreak, Mia had the sweetest smile on her face.

“Mia is the sweetest, most precious little soul we have ever met. We have no idea how a dog that was abandoned in this way can still be so resilient and loving,” the rescue added in another post.

She stayed with Yasmin for a week, making new friends and learning all about family life. What she didn’t know at the time was that the best was yet to come for Mia.

The Sweetest Foster Fail

Thanks to Jersey Pits Rescue, Mia was matched with the perfect fosters

She went straight into her new dad’s arms the minute she encountered him and never let go. Her fosters quickly acclimated to her quirky and playful personality, and soon enough, Mia became the princess of her new home.

Eventually, that only led to one outcome – Mia becoming a foster fail! Just a few days into her foster care, her new parents realized how special she was and decided to keep her for good. Mia, naturally, couldn’t be happier!

She has a whole new life in her new home, chasing new adventures every day. Her family is beyond lucky to have her and can’t thank her rescuers enough.

“Mia really enjoys playing fetch in the backyard, going for walks around the neighborhood, and taking lots of naps… She is so smart and so sweet, and we are so incredibly lucky to have her,” her family said, according to the JPR.

One thing is for sure – Mia’s bad days are behind her. She’s now all about her new hoomans, cuddles, and exciting playtime. What more could she ask for?
