The other day, Elba Mayorga was walking near her home in Chile when something in a shop’s display window gave her pause.
There, poised among regular mannequins displaying children’s clothing, was a surprisingly lifelike dog figurine.
“I was in a super hurry, like every day, and I saw him out of the corner of my eye,” Mayorga told The Dodo. “It made me very curious because he didn’t move.”
Being in a rush, Mayorga almost continued on her way without learning the real truth about that furry “figurine” — that this was no figurine at all.
“The moment I approached to look more carefully, he stuck out his tongue at me,” Mayorga said. “It was very cute!”
Mayorga captured the moment on video:
It was a particularly cold day that day, being winter in South America, so Mayorga suspects that the dog — likely a stray — had entered the shop to warm up.
And sure enough, he’d found a way to fit right in.
Despite being in a rush, Mayorga’s encounter with the handsome dog did delay her even more. But she has no regrets.
“Truth be told, it was worth the minutes I spent with him,” she said. “It brought me joy and a lot of happiness all day.”
