Paralyzed Dog Was Facing Euthanasia—Then an Unexpected Miracle Saved Him

I have always held a firm belief that no matter what happens to a dog in their life, they always deserve a chance to be loved and cared for by someone.

If they were abused and end up sometimes lashing out at humans, or if they are just old and sick, they can still recover and learn how to trust other people.

It’s really up to us to give them that opportunity, but too many people are afraid, and that is the reason why so many dogs like this struggle in shelters.

Rudy’s story was no different. He was an older dog whose hind legs were not working, but his life would change completely when he finally met someone amazing.

A Volunteer To The Rescue

Sweet Brown Dog

When a volunteer first came to see Rudy at the shelter in Nevada, she noticed that he would often spend his time just lying on the bed and doing nothing.

Even though the shelter workers helped him walk again, he didn’t have any interest in playing, which was really sad.

She kind of felt bad about his life in the shelter, so she wanted to help him somehow. She thought of an amazing plan.

Even though he was an old dog, there was still life in him, and he just needed a chance, so this amazing volunteer asked the shelter workers if she could take him for a sleepover.

Adorable Dog

They agreed and Rudy had an incredible time. He also met 2 other dogs, who became his friends in no time.

It broke the volunteer’s heart to have to bring him back, but she thought that there was no way she could take care of another dog.

Shortly after, she realized that she could not just let him stay there, so she went to the shelter in Nevada and adopted Rudy. He finally got the chance he always deserved.

Very quickly, his new mom realized just how amazing he was with other dogs, cats, and even people. He was just really happy to live a normal life again.

Rudy Is Living A Happy Life

She also noticed that Rudy really liked her sister, which made her really happy. Even though he was getting older every day, his health was improving.

He was walking a lot faster and better now that he had a routine, and that was a bit surprising for everyone as they didn’t believe he would be doing so well at that age.

His new mom didn’t know much about his previous life. The only information she had was that he suffered some kind of a spinal injury which is why his legs didn’t work.

The veterinarians were not sure about his prognosis, but he was able to recover with proper treatment and that is all that matters.

His mom is continuing to monitor his health because she wants to make sure that he remains healthy as long as possible.

She is so proud of all the progress he has made despite the fact that he suffered a lot because of his injury.

His mom loves him very much and she notes just how much love he has added to the entire household.

It’s really beautiful to see how Rudy has impacted their lives in such a positive way. I wish more people saw this and realized that older dogs are not a problem. They deserve love just like any other dog. All they need is an opportunity.
