A little bit of compassion was all that a little pup named Coconut hoped for as he was lying under a restaurant sign in California.
The canine kept looking at the drive-thru customers with a sad look on his tired face as if he wanted to ask them for help.
As time went by, the doggo felt lonelier than ever and his heart became filled with fear. He needed human love and comfort more than ever before.
Although people ignored him for months, the pup never lost hope of being rescued.
Coconut kept waiting for someone to notice him and show him that he was worthy of love.
The Pup Gets Noticed
When a giant-hearted customer pulled into their favorite drive-thru line, they noticed a matted pup lying under a display screen.
They reached out to Logan’s Legacy 29, a dog rescue founded by experienced rescuer, Suzette Hall, and asked for help.
Shortly after receiving the call, Hall and her team of volunteers arrived at the scene.
The rescuers’ hearts became filled with sadness the moment they saw the small dog sleeping near the restaurant.
“He would lay under the restaurant sign, he would lay under the drive[-thru]. He had his favorite bush and his favorite palm tree, and he would lay there,” Hall wrote in a Facebook post.
The good humans talked to a security guard about the pooch, later named Coconut. They felt brokenhearted after they learned more about his past.
“For three months, he lived in a shopping center right by two busy streets, lonely and afraid. Security would feed him,” Hall wrote.
The rescuers set humane traps at Coconut’s favorite places, hoping that the smell of the treats would entice him and lure him into a crate.
However, the rescue didn’t go as planned.
The restaurant was busy and the customers kept chasing Coconut. The pup felt even more scared and he refused to go anywhere near the traps.
Rescue Mission
After spending hours trying to capture Coconut, the rescue team decided to go home and return in the morning.
The giant-hearted humans couldn’t wait to hold him in their arms.
Determined to bring the little dog to safety, the team came back the next morning.
After seeing that Coconut was fast asleep, two volunteers came up with a new plan.
“Yamileth and Karla snuck up quietly [and used] a blanket as a net. They got him,” Hall added.
The volunteers talked to the pooch, offering him words of encouragement and comfort. They caressed Coconut and his fears started disappearing.
The kind-hearted women took him to Camino Pet Hospital in Irvine, California. The vet gave him a thorough medical examination and shaved his matted fur.
Luckily, the doggo was in excellent health.
Coconut moved into his foster home and he started settling in. The pooch felt relaxed and he blissfully slept in his new bed.
Dreaming About A Better Future
A week later, Hall took him to the beach. Coconut seemed like a totally different dog. He was confident and sweet.
The doggo couldn’t stop looking at the ocean and admiring the beauty around him. He felt at peace.
Coconut had the sweetest smile on his face as he looked at Hall. He wished to thank her for the second chance at happiness that she gave him.
The lovely pooch is currently looking for a forever home. He can’t wait to start a new life filled with happiness with his humans.
I hope that the pup will soon realize his greatest dream. The adorable boi deserves to find a loving family who will treasure him and love him like he deserves.
