Last week, dispatchers from the Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office in Texas were alerted to an emergency situation. A Good Samaritan had discovered pet carrier abandoned in a field containing eight precious souls — a litter of 6-week-old puppies.
“[They had] no water on a 100° day,” the sheriff’s office wrote.
Fortunately, the puppies had been found and brought to safety in time.
Despite the grim circumstances the puppies had been left in, they appeared to be in good health.
One of the responding officers couldn’t help but smile as she posed for a photo, her arms full of pudgy, smiling pups.
The eight puppies were then transferred to a local animal shelter, the Chuck & Brenda Silcox Animal Care & Adoption Center. There, they received checkups and were given names.
Unfortunately, officials are not optimistic that the person responsible for abandoning the puppies will be found and brought to justice.
But those pups’ futures are looking bright, regardless.
A few days after the pups were rescued, the sheriff’s office shared the happiest update:
“All puppies have found placements!” they wrote, adding that one of the officers who saved them ended up adopting one himself:
“Thank you to everyone playing a crucial role in finding these puppies a safe, loving environment.”
