Kayakers Spotted Potato Sack Floating In River, Paddled Closer And Untied It

A group of kayakers enjoying a peaceful day on the Blackstone River in Massachusetts stumbled upon something they never expected. While paddling through a quiet section of the river, they noticed a potato sack floating on the surface. Initially, it seemed unremarkable—until strange noises drew their attention. To their shock, the sack began to move. Realizing something was alive inside, the kayakers quickly pulled it from the water, and what they found inside horrified people across the country.

Tied up in the bag were six helpless newborn puppies left to drown. Miraculously, all six puppies were still alive. The kayakers acted swiftly, contacting authorities to ensure the pups received proper care, as reported by CBS News. “As a police chief, I believe these kayakers were truly their guardian angels,” said Uxbridge Police Chief Jeffrey Lourie.

He emphasized just how close the puppies had come to a tragic end. “If they hadn’t been found in time, it wouldn’t have been long before they were fully submerged and lost,” Lourie explained. Authorities estimate the puppies are only about a week old.

Outraged by the cruelty, police are now searching for the person responsible. “This is an unspeakable act,” Lourie said. “We are determined to find the individual responsible and charge them with six counts of animal cruelty.” The Uxbridge Police Department also expressed their anger on social media, referring to the suspect as a “low life” and calling the act “heinous and unconscionable.”

Puppy mills are mass breeding operations that run solely to make a profit. Support a nationwide ban on selling puppy mill animals at pet stores.

The rescued puppies are now under the care of Uxbridge Animal Control, receiving the attention and support they need to recover from their harrowing experience.

Thanks to the quick actions of the kayakers, these puppies were given a second chance at life. The community hopes that justice will soon be served, holding accountable whoever left these innocent animals to drown.
