Jail Guards Spend Weeks Trying To Capture Furry Intruder In Parking Lot

It was a blazing hot September day in Los Angeles, California, when dog rescuer Suzette Hall received a distressing call from her local jail. One of the guards reported seeing a small, furry intruder running across the property — and she refused to leave.

As soon as Hall, who founded Logan’s Legacy 29, saw a picture of the tiny, Chihuahua-like intruder, she dropped everything to help.

On her way there, Hall received more information about the stray pup living in the jail’s parking lot. The guard explain that he and his colleagues were desperate to help the dog, but for the past few weeks she’d been there, she refused to let anyone get close enough.

“This tiny, little girl was in a jail parking lot for two weeks,” Hall wrote on Facebook. “The employees brought a bed for her and would feed her. But as soon as someone would even look at her, she would run for her tiny life.”

By the time Hall arrived later that evening, the temperature peaked at 105 degrees Fahrenheit. She worried that the pup, who had no protection from the sun, was overheating and running out of time. But when she canvassed the area, she discovered the dog peacefully resting despite the grueling weather.

“When I got there last night [and] saw her sleeping in the little bed, my heart sank,” Hall wrote. “[She was] so tiny.”

Seconds later, the little pup opened her eyes and bolted at the sight of Hall.

“She saw me and ran so fast,” Hall wrote.

While the puppy ran to a quiet corner of the parking lot, Hall set a humane dog trap next to the pup’s bed. The rescuer then hurried to a hiding place not too far away from the trap and waited for the sweet girl to return.

It wasn’t long before Hall finally received the news she’d been waiting for.

“The guard at the gate said she just ran past him, so I knew she was headed back to her bed,” Hall wrote. “[I] waited about 15 minutes and quietly and slowly went to look … and there she was, safe in my trap.”

Hall was overcome with emotion when she saw the dog in the crate, especially when she considered everything the stray girl had gone through in the past few weeks.

“I cried because her two weeks of being alone were finally over,” Hall wrote. “This little, tiny girl was finally safe.”

Hall carried the trap to her car, then drove the sweet girl straight to Camino Pet Hospital. On the way to the hospital, Hall officially settled on a name for the pup: Tiny.

The folks at Camino Pet Hospital welcomed Tiny with open arms and cared for her for a few days following her rescue, making sure that she was healthy, clean and nourished. A few weeks later, once she was finally cleared for adoption, Tiny found the perfect forever home.

Tiny’s life has changed for the better since her rescue. She’s thoroughly enjoying her new life and city, where she’s already gearing up for her first winter with a loving family.

“Tiny has been adopted,” Hall wrote on Facebook. “Look at her in her little coat and boots. I just can’t take the cuteness overload.”

Thanks to the jail employees’ refusal to ignore Tiny and Hall’s dedication to rescuing her, the sweet girl now has a long, adventurous life ahead of her. She may be just one of many pups Hall has rescued, but Tiny will always hold a special place in her heart.

“Happy life, sweet baby girl,” Hall wrote. “I love you so much.”
