Many people often fail to understand how fragile a dog’s heart truly is.

If they only knew the depth of heartbreak that these four-legged creatures feel each time they part from their loved ones, they would rush to give them the biggest hug possible right this second.

Sadly, instead of a hug, the only thing Bruce received was a cruel goodbye. After seven years of showering his family with love, they chose to “reward” him with abandonment – without a second thought and in the middle of the night. Then, they vanished into the darkness.

They Just Drove Away

I just can’t imagine the amount of pain Bruce felt upon seeing his owners’ car driving away. He was stuck in front of the Humane Society of Broward County, Florida, tied to a tree with no one near to help him.

“My family tied me to a tree at the shelter in the middle of the night and then they drove away. I didn’t know what to do, so I cried into the night,” the rescue wrote on social media.

He sat there in hopes to hear the familiar car sound again, but that didn’t happen. Luckily, a kind passerby spotted him and notified the Florida rescue immediately.

Bruce was taken inside within minutes and given all the love in the world. But, even that didn’t help him recover from the heartbreak his family caused him.

This 7-year-old boi literally shut himself out of everything, turning his back to the world. Bruce was so devastated he didn’t have the strength to lift his head and interact with anyone.

Due to his condition, his caregivers decided to place a note on his kennel door, explaining Bruce’s situation and hoping it would speed up the process and help him find a new home.

“I loved them so much. Since I’ve been here, I’ve been very down in the dumps,” the note says.

Bruce’s story soon went viral, leaving thousands of people in tears, wondering how someone could do such a cruel thing to a dog.

“Why don’t people realize that animals have feelings and emotions,” one commenter wrote.

Another commenter added that she had just witnessed Bruce’s heartbreak at the shelter: “We just saw him at the shelter. Poor pup was looking the other way where the window is located, I hope he’s not waiting for his never returning family.”

Bruce Just Wants To Be Loved

The truth is, underneath all the heartbreak, Bruce is a truly sweet dog with one wish and one wish only – to be loved! 

He’s an affectionate and loyal pooch who’s looking for someone to reciprocate all the love he has to give. 

“I’m a very affectionate dog who just wants to be loved. I won’t leave your side. I know there are many younger and cuter dogs, even smaller ones, but I promise you will not find a more devoted, loyal friend,” his door note says.

For now, Bruce is staying with his caregivers in the Humane Society. Their goal is to help him recover from the abandonment trauma and, hopefully, match him with a family who won’t give up on him this time.

After everything he has been through, Bruce definitely deserves a happy ending. And, I know that his right hooman is just around the corner.
