There is no good time to part ways with your best furry friend, ever.
Whether they are old, sick, or headed to a new home, you’re just never ready to say that final goodbye. However, when the inevitable moment comes, there’s nothing left but to promise that you’ll keep every single one of your memories deep in your heart.
One Missouri man kept that promise, yet he was never able to make peace with the fact that his longtime buddy, Mika, wasn’t around anymore.
Understanding their dad’s sorrow, his family soon decided to do something about it.
The Surprise That Left The Internet Sobbing
Mika and her dad spent wonderful years together. They weren’t just companions, they were inseparable friends who did everything together.
Mika was even an integral part of her dad’s work routine.
“She went everywhere with him. She went to work with him on the sod farm every day and even rode the equipment with him. She was with him from the time he got up till he went to bed. He mourned her horribly,” the man’s family states via the ViralHog post.
Wanting to help her dad, his daughter found a litter of puppies born on his birthday and immediately took it as the perfect sign to cheer him up. She and her family soon paid a visit to the grandpa, bringing Boone, a pup his granddaughter had chosen to be her papa’s future companion.
“Boone was the one that really took to my 4-year-old granddaughter so he was the one. She kept it a secret for over two weeks! She got to deliver him to her Papa. We knew his reaction would be emotional but never expected this,” the post further says.
For a few moments, the man was in disbelief.
“What’s that,” he asked his little girl.
“A puppy,” she replied, handing him over to the grandpa.
The minute he embraced the pup in his arms, he was immediately flooded with emotions. It was hard to tell whether it was all the memories with Mika rushing through his mind or the endless happiness of starting a new journey – but it was probably both.
The Missouri man started shedding tears as he shared his first cuddles with the new companion, and his family soon gathered around him.
“He may be a big tough guy but he has an even bigger heart,” the post concludes.
The whole scene was truly heartwarming, leaving thousands of viewers who saw the video in tears.
“He’s so gentle with the pup. I hope they have many happy years together,” one person wrote.
“No one is immune from the pain of losing a beloved friend. I hope this brings him some peace,” another one added.
