One of the toughest things for any shelter dog is having hope every day that a good person would come and adopt them.
Life inside many rescue organizations can be tough, even when the rescuers are doing their best to help out all the dogs.
Despite all the problems that may occur, there is no better feeling than seeing a dog’s smile when he realizes that he has finally found his forever home. It makes all the days spent waiting and hoping worth it.
Something similar happened to Cake Batter, who managed to find the most amazing owner, but his happiness would be cut short due to a terrible tragedy.
Cake Batter Is Back In The Shelter
It was one of the most amazing days for Cake Batter when he found his new owner. He was so happy when he realized that he finally got a new home.
Even though he loved his rescuers from the Pennsylvania SPCA, it was clear to everyone that he was longing for a family.
Given his past, it’s not surprising that he just wanted to live a normal life with someone. Poor Cake Batter was forced into dog fighting since he was a very young pup.
Despite this, he remained a very cheerful and happy doggo who loved spending time with other people.
The time he spent with his new owner was some of the best in his life. He got everything he wanted and more, but his new journey would be cut short due to a horrible tragedy.
His new owner passed away a year later and this meant that he had to be sent back to the Pennsylvania SPCA.
In a post, the rescuers wrote: “For over a year he lived the best life. And then things changed again, his loving owner passed away and Cake Batter ended up back at the shelter.”
Even though the shelter staff was hopeful that he might find a new home soon after his owner passed away, things were a bit complicated.
Cake Batter Is Still Searching
One year later, he is still in the shelter. This is very disappointing for everyone there, even though they are all trying to find a new home for him.
They take him on walks regularly and try to make him feel as comfortable as possible, but even they can tell that he is a bit depressed.
A rescuer from SPCA told The Dodo: “He very often lays at the back of his kennel. While we will never know what he is thinking, it seems like he’s dreaming of another place. He will of course get up to greet you when you kneel down. He will wag his tail, but he is getting older, and the time is ticking.”
He is just so lovable and the rescuers are trying everything in their power to help him find a home. They note that he is sweet, but prefers to be the only pet in the house.
I do hope that he finds that one special person who will change his life. The SPCA rescuer said: “My biggest hope is that someone will love him as much as we all do.He deserves the world, and that is all we want for him. A loving, safe home.”
Even though things are not looking so great right now, I have absolute faith in his rescuers. I am sure that he will find someone who will change his life for the better.
