Daisy was just a puppy when her family welcomed her into their home.
She gave them all her unconditional love, believing that they would cherish her and love her forever.
Sadly, Daisy’s owners decided to renounce her and surrender her to Midwest Animal ResQ in Raytown, Missouri.
When the staff asked why they were giving her up, the Great Dane’s family said that they were too busy to take care of her.
Although the staff told them that Daisy might never find a home because she was a senior, her family didn’t care. They unloaded her out of the car without saying goodbye.
Daisy felt confused. She watched as they drove away, not knowing that she would never see them again.
Coming To Terms With The Reality
The staff took her inside and kept her company, trying to offer her words of comfort.
Daisy was looking out of a window, hoping to see her owners coming back to her.
When she realized that they abandoned her, her heart shattered. She started whining and trembling.
The staff member who stayed by her side felt heartbroken.
The senior dog lost the only home she ever knew and she was now facing an uncertain future.
The Missouri shelter shared a heartbreaking video of Daisy on their Instagram account.
“Everything she’s ever known, gone in an instant. My heart is broken, but not nearly as much as hers,” the shelter wrote.
People who watched the footage were devastated. They hoped that the lovely senior girl would find a forever home.
The loving staff supported Daisy the best way they could and helped her deal with the most difficult period of her life.
A Forever Home That She Deserved
They knew that the shelter life would be too overwhelming for the senior dog and they soon found her a superb foster home.
Upon moving in with her foster, Daisy still felt sorrowful. She was trying to process everything that happened to her.
Thankfully, her foster mom kept trying to bring a smile to her face.
Little by little, Daisy’s sadness began to fade and she started playing with her.
The shelter was swamped with adoption applications for the lovely girl and they took time to find the perfect fit.
On June 1st, 2024, they shared the news that everyone was waiting for.
The delightful dog found a forever home. She left her sad past behind and focused on her future.
I’m sure her new family adores her and dotes on her like she deserves. Their love will surely heal Daisy’s broken heart.
