When Chani Yeza and a few companions decided to take a boat out on a delta near their home in Argentina, they had no idea they’d be ending the day with an extra crew member.
It all began with the sighting of a desperate swimmer in the distance.
Turns out, there was a random dog in the middle of the delta paddling his way toward their vessel.
It’s unclear exactly how the dog had ended up in that spot, a good distance from shore and far from any other boats, but Yeza and his friends knew one thing for certain: the poor pup needed their help.
So, slowing their boat, they leaped into action — and the water — to whisk the exhausted dog to safety.
Here’s that moment on video:
From there, Yeza and his friends continued to enjoy their day on the water — now with the lucky dog in tow.
“We named him Delta, because that’s where we found him,” Yeza told The Dodo.
Delta, who had presumably been abandoned someplace nearby, was now safe. And Yeza ensured he’d stay that way.
After their day of boating drew to an end, Yeza arranged for Delta’s future care.
“We gave him to a woman who runs an animal sanctuary. She was delighted,” Yeza said. “Delta is in very good hands.”
