Abandoned dog chases after doggy daycare’s “pup bus,” begging for a ride — it leads to a happy ending

When an abandoned Lab saw a bus full of dogs passing by, he knew he found a place he belonged and ran after it. It ended up leading to a very happy ending ❤️

Keller Creek Boarding and Grooming, in Franklin County, Georgia, operates a “Pup Bus,” in which they pick up their customers’ dogs. It’s an adorable sight, like the happy dogs are all on their way to school.

But last month, the bus caught the attention of an abandoned yellow lab. Wandering alone on the streets, he noticed the bus full of happy dogs go by and desperately wanted in on the fun.

He chased after the bus, but sadly couldn’t be allowed on, for the safety of the other dogs on board. “I didn’t know about his vaccination status. I didn’t know if he was on flea and tick prevention,” Tyson Cash, who runs Keller Creek Boarding and Grooming, told the Washington Post. “I didn’t want to jeopardize all the other dogs.”

“He wanted on the bus badly. He was doing everything he could to get on with the other dogs.”

Still, the sight of the poor dog running after his bus broke his heart. Wanting to help, the company shared a photo of the dog on their Facebook page, hoping to get more information and get him home.

But no one came forward, and it became clear the dog had been abandoned. A local woman said she had been looking after the dog, calling him Waylon.

While Waylon didn’t catch the bus that day, his luck soon turned around. Sadie Peace, whose own pet Lab goes to Keller Creek, saw the heartbreaking video of Waylon running after the bus, and knew she had to help.

“To see a dog so desperate to catch a ride was very heartbreaking,” she told the Post.

Sadie reached out to the woman who had been looking after the dog and expressed interest in adopting. She also discovered that Waylon had a microchip, but Waylon’s former owners relinquished ownership via the microchip company.

Waylon has now been adjusting well to his new forever home, and is best friends with Sadie’s other pet Lab, Nellie.

In a heartwarming happy ending, Waylon is now a doggy customer at Keller Creek, and gets to ride the dog bus all the time now with his sister:

We’re so glad Waylon found a new home and finally got to ride on the pup bus!
