Loyal Dog Runs Errands for His Mom Who Can’t Walk to the Store

It’s Sunday morning in Antioquia, Colombia, and Doña Graciela is writing her weekly grocery list. She needs just a few things from her local market, but she’s unable to walk there herself. Luckily, she has a loyal pup eager to run her errands.

She secures a saddle bag harness around her pup, a black pit bull mix, then opens the pocket where her list usually goes.

“I wrote down what he should bring me, and I put the money in here,” Doña Graciela told Instagram user @cejasriveraa in a video. “Now, he heads off to the store, and he’ll bring back what I need.”

With the coveted grocery list and money in his backpack, Doña Graciela’s dog marches out the front door and trots down their village street, propelled by his wagging tail. He knows what market to go to, but even if he has doubts, the shopkeepers are always there to wave him in with open arms.

When he arrives, the sweet pup sits in front of the counter and allows the workers to retrieve the list from his backpack.

“There, he’s arrived at the store,” Cejasriveraa said. “Now, they’re attending to him. How beautiful.”

After grabbing the list, the shopkeepers leave the pup momentarily to retrieve the items from the back. Despite being left seemingly alone, the well-behaved dog doesn’t budge from his spot.

“Look how he patiently waits for them to attend to him,” Cejasriveraa said.

Moments later, the shopkeepers return with a small bag of items, which they tie to his backpack. They take the money from his pocket before sending him back to his home.

Again, the sweet pup happily trots down the street back to his house, excited to show his mom what he picked up for her.

“There goes the dog with his items,” Cejasriveraa said.

Seconds later, the pup pops back into Doña Graciela’s living room, sporting a huge smile. He sits patiently while his mom unties the bag from his backpack, then enjoys a delicious treat for his hard work.

Life as a senior citizen has ups and downs, but luckily, Doña Graciela never has to worry about completing her tasks. As long as her sweet pup is around, she’ll always have someone loving and trustworthy to help her.

“He even brought back the change!” Doña Graciela said.
