Man Arrested for Beating Puppy with Wooden Stick Faces Felony Charges

Man Facing Felony Charges, Jailed After Witness Sees Him Beating Dog

A Shocking Act of Animal Cruelty

Manistee man is behind bars after a horrifying case of animal abuse was caught by a witness who saw him beating his puppy with a wooden stick.

The incident occurred in Macomb Township, Michigan, when Brandon Dell, a passerby, was eating lunch in his car and heard the unmistakable sound of a dog yelping in pain.

What he saw next left him shaken.

Caught in the Act

Dell, who had just finished a job interview, noticed something horrific inside a nearby RV camper.

✔ A helpless 3-month-old puppy, Maeby, cowering against a window.
✔ A cylindrical object—later identified as a wooden stick—being repeatedly slammed down on the dog’s body.
✔ With each strike, the puppy let out a gut-wrenching, curdling yelp.

Immediately recognizing the urgency of the situation, Dell called 911.

Moments later, Macomb County Sheriff deputies arrived and removed Corbin Miller, the RV owner, from his camper before placing him under arrest in the Taco Bell parking lot.

Severe Injuries and Heartbreaking Condition

When authorities examined Maeby, they were devastated by what they found.

✔ Pelvic fracture
✔ Skull fracture
✔ Femoral fracture

The injuries were so severe that animal control workers initially questioned whether Maeby would survive.

Commander Jason Abro of the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that Miller admitted to beating the dog, even telling officers:

“It’s a dog, it’s not a human.”

Abro believes this wasn’t the first time Miller had abused Maeby, making his arrest critical to preventing further harm.

Facing Justice for His Actions

Miller is now facing two felony charges, including:

✔ Animal Torture – A felony carrying a maximum four-year sentence.
✔ Additional charges related to animal cruelty.

Authorities did not hold back in condemning his actions.

“He’s definitely a danger to the community. If he’s able to do that to a dog, he’s able to do that to anyone,” Commander Abro stated.

A Second Chance for Maeby

Despite her traumatic injuries, Maeby is fighting to recover.

✔ She is currently undergoing surgery.
✔ She will be placed in a medical foster care program once stable.
✔ Macomb County Animal Control is covering all medical expenses.

Rising Cases of Animal Abuse

According to law enforcement, cases of animal cruelty are increasing.

Abro encouraged anyone struggling to care for a pet to reach out for help instead of resorting to violence.

✔ Macomb Animal Control offers resources for struggling pet owners.
✔ There is no excuse for abuse—help is always available.

“If Dell hadn’t called 911, this dog would have died.”

Thanks to one caring witness and the quick actions of authorities, Maeby now has a chance at a new life—far away from the suffering she endured.
