Tiny Puppy Sits Confused Behind Kennel Bars, Longing for a Home

It’s the holiday season, and we all love to see happy dogs enjoying the most wonderful time of the year in warm homes with loving families.

While some dogs are fortunate enough to experience these special moments, the reality for many others is far from ideal. Countless dogs endure their days in dark, lonely shelters, dreaming of a forever home that may never come.

It’s especially heartbreaking to see senior dogs spending their golden years confined behind the bars of a kennel. Even more distressing is the sight of helpless puppies whose first experiences of life are defined by those same cold, metal bars.

A heartwrenching video of a tiny puppy sitting in confusion behind the bars of a large kennel has reminded us all of the harsh reality faced by our smallest furry friends, leaving many hearts heavy with sorrow.

“Just A Small Baby”

When he came to the shelter in Riverside County Department Of Animal Services in California, Chowder was barely seven weeks old. Chowder is a cream and tan German Shepherd and he was brought into the shelter as a stray.

As soon as they put him in a large kennel, the sight of him sitting in confusion behind the bars broke the hearts of shelter employees. Soon, the people from the @savingriversideshelterdogs, an organization that saves dogs in Riverside County, California, came.

They immediately recorded this heartwrenching scene and posted the video on Instagram, which later made many hearts cry. In the video, you will clearly see why.

“Just a small baby, in a big kennel, surrounded by kennels of big dogs,” they wrote in the caption.

According to them, Chowder was immediately listed as urgent as soon as he came in. Aside from that, due to being underaged, “he is RESCUE ONLY and a rescue is needed ASAP!”

Namely, according to the American Kennel Club, the minimum age to bring a puppy home is 8 to 10 weeks, and Chowder was one week younger when he was brought to the shelter.

During his stay there, the good people did everything to make it easier for him, and they also treated him for giardia, an intestinal infection caused by ingesting feces-contaminated food, water, soil, or objects.

Fortunately, he soon felt much better, all thanks to the good souls.

Heartbroken Viewers But Some Good News As Well

As already mentioned, the video showing tiny puppy Chowder behind the bars of a large kennel attracted a lot of attention and made many hearts cry.

There were numerous reactions and we highlighted some of the comments.

“Oh, that’s sweet little puppy. How did this cute little puppy end up in a shelter? 🙏🏼💛🙏🏼,” one user wrote.

“At least give him a blanket and a toy :(“ another added.

“Awwww sweet lil baby, you must be so scared and lonely. I pray you get your miracle, and you’re rescued with a safe and loving home,” the third wrote.

Luckily, good news soon came as the rescue organization announced a pupdate, stating: “Chowder has been taken on a FOSTER FIRST DATE. We hope the foster adopts!”

We all hope that little Chowder will celebrate this Christmas in a forever home, with a view of a beautiful Christmas tree and not a dark and lonely shelter.
