Dog Sneaks Into Baby Brother’s Room Every Night To Check On Him, Then Comes The Heartbreak

Some dogs need time to adjust to new life circumstances, such as a change in their environment or the addition of a new family member.

Others, like Kendall, are simply natural!

When her owners first brought home their new baby, Kendall immediately went into nanny mode, embracing her brother with an open heart. Soon after, she began doing even more, leaving her mom and dad completely baffled!

She’s A Natural Babysitter

Emily Wright, Kendall’s owner, adopted her from a high-euthanasia shelter after she was left by her family.

“What an absolute gem of a dog they gave up, but if they hadn’t given her up, she wouldn’t be part of our family. Best dog ever,” she added.

She was brought home alongside her doggo brother, Tiger, and never looked back. The two enriched their Texas family’s lives in ways they could have never imagined, but soon, Kendall did even more!

As soon as their son Austin was born, Kendall immediately switched into momma mode.

“When Austin was born, she just went straight into mothering mode,” Emily told The Dodo in an interview that made headlines all over the country!

Kendall began to check up on him in his room, gently licking his head to ensure he was alright. Emily and her husband witnessed this heartwarming scene countless times via their baby monitor, and they just couldn’t contain their excitement.

Just like that, Austin had a babysitter he never asked for, yet their bond was so utterly adorable.

Soon enough, Austin and Kendall became inseparable. They grew to be the best of friends, even though his furry bud always retained her nurturing side around him.

The family thrived, until one day, one vet visit turned everything upside down

Coping With The Bad News

The family noticed that Kendall had been feeling under the weather for days. She was having difficulties swallowing food, so they immediately decided to take her to the vet.

Sadly, after a thorough check-up, the family received the worst news possible. Kendall, their beloved momma dog, was diagnosed with lymphoblastic lymphoma.

Crushed and devastated by this horrible situation, Emily and her husband immediately searched for a solution that would prolong Kendall’s good days – and eventually found one.

Thanks to several different organizations that help owners finance their dogs’ treatments, they managed to fund Kendall’s chemotherapy.

To everyone’s excitement – this loving Golden Retriever responded remarkably well!

In October 2024, Lexi’s Legacy Foundation, based in Irvine, California, shared tear-jerking news: after months of treatment and endless sleepless nights, Kendall was finally in remission.

“We have some wonderful news to share – Kendall is IN REMISSION!!! 🐾💪👏👏. This sweet 9-year-old Golden Retriever mix, was diagnosed with lymphoma and has officially graduated from chemotherapy,” the Foundation wrote on Instagram.

Thanks to the combined efforts of Kendall’s family and the kind-hearted individuals who cared for her, this nine-year-old beauty was finally able to resume her daily activities.

And her remission couldn’t have come at a better time!

Emily and her husband welcomed another baby, Amon, into their lives, and Kendall naturally went straight back into nanny mode!

“She is now helping rear offspring #2 and my heart just can’t take it,” Emily wrote on Facebook.

Emily hopes Kendall will create many more happy memories with the family. So far, she’s doing great, soaking up all the beauty of her life and enjoying her role as a nanny once again.

Good luck, Kendall. And stay strong!
