Shelter Dog Who Lost Her Friends Hopes To Honor Them By Finally Finding A Home

Shyla was rescued from a backyard breeding and hoarding situation along with several other dogs. They were all in a terrible state and taken to an overcrowded shelter in Houston. Unfortunately, none of the rest of the dogs made it, and Shyla is the only one left.

Shyla was in danger of being put down due to a lack of space, but at the very last minute, someone stepped in to help her.

“She was saved because a foster was able to get her five minutes after the deadline,” Chelsea Domaleski, a shelter volunteer, told The Dodo.

Shyla’s foster had her for a month, but unfortunately, her circumstances recently changed and she’s now no longer able to keep her. Domaleski and her boyfriend have been paying for Shyla to stay at a boarding facility, but they won’t be able to afford it for much longer. What Shyla needs now more than anything in the world is a family to love her.

“She loves people and is super snuggly and friendly,” Domaleski said. “She’s been living with a bunch of other dogs at the boarder’s house and has been getting along well with them all. She likes to go for walks and hang outside in the sun with the other pups.”

Shyla was dealt a bad hand in life, which has been the only thing stopping her from finding a home. She’s so sweet and just wants to be loved, and her rescue friends will do anything to help find her happily-ever-after.

“She was neglected and let down by humans her whole life and is ready for someone to love and care for her the way she deserves,” Domaleski said.

Shyla is currently recovering from heartworms and is hoping to find a foster or rescue to take her in while she heals. Once she’s recovered, she can head off to find her forever family. Going back to the shelter isn’t an option because she would likely be put down. Shyla needs someone who can help buy her some time so she can eventually go on to live the life she deserves.
