When Triton was driven to VCA Greater Savannah Animal Hospital with a broken leg, he looked like he was finally going to get the help he needed. His owner parked in the lot, took Triton out of the car — then drove away and left him there.
Triton watched his owner drive off, confused, heartbroken and all alone.
Luckily, staff members at the animal hospital noticed Triton in the parking lot and immediately ran out to help him. They contacted Humane Society for Greater Savannah to let them know what was going on, then did X-rays and cast the pup’s leg, completely free of charge. All they wanted to do was help Triton, who had already been through so much.
The Humane Society for Greater Savannah agreed to take in Triton and quickly began searching for a foster family for him. They wanted to find him a quiet home away from the shelter environment where he could recover in peace.
“He is a timid boy who just needs love and opens up when he feels safe,” Nina Schulze, adoptions manager at Humane Society for Greater Savannah, told The Dodo.
Thankfully, it didn’t take them long to find Triton a foster family, and he’s now healing and feeling so much better.
“He is doing really good and recovering in peace and quiet and with a whole lot of love,” the shelter wrote on Facebook. “We are so proud of how quickly he adapted to his cast and love[d] his little hop out the front door. This sweet boy deserves ALL the love!”
Triton had a rough start to life, but he’s finally learning what love is, and he’s never looking back.
