Sydney ended up in a desperate situation after she peed in the house and her owner decided he’d had enough — so he threw her away like trash in a dumpster. Poor Sydney was found and taken in by a local shelter, and was quickly in danger of being put down.
Sydney was sick and needed to be in isolation while she healed, and the shelter didn’t have the space to accommodate her. Luckily, Dochas N Gra Animal Rescue found out about Sydney’s plight and immediately stepped up to take her in.
“We saw the post and contacted [the shelter],” Victoria McGonigal, owner of Dochas N Gra Animal Rescue, told The Dodo. “I work with them often on medical cases.”
Sydney had an upper respiratory infection that needed treatment, but otherwise she seemed to be doing OK. The sweet pup was in good spirits, even after everything she’d been through.
“She is the sweetest girl,” McGonigal said. “[She] loves belly rubs [and] snuggles, and she is a serial licker.”
Sydney came from a home where she was treated harshly, and yet she never lost hope that eventually she’d find love. Now, she’s definitely making up for lost time.
Sydney has had the best time exploring the rescue and sanctuary, meeting cows, horses, goats and bonding with the other dogs. Life now is so much different than where she came from, and it’s clear she’s so grateful to everyone who stepped up to help her.
