Whenever I come across an abandoned animal, I find myself wondering what must have gone through their owner’s mind to leave it there. Yet, I have never found a reason good enough to justify such acts.
Instead of being taken to shelters, these animals are often left in the most harrowing places: remote areas, desolate roads, mountaintops, plastic bags, and large, empty barrels – these are just some of the spots that these poor creatures must endure.
This time, it was a barrel full of tar that made this helpless furball scream loudly until someone finally heard him.
It Broke Their Hearts
The locals couldn’t help but overhear loud screaming noises coming from the barrel. The yelping was so intense that they decided to investigate, and when they did – their hearts shattered into a million pieces!
Covered in tar, there was a dog.
His coat was so soaked that he couldn’t move at all. The kind people immediately sprang into action and pulled him out, but what this tiny pup really needed was professional help. That’s why the people called the Dog Care Clinic to help.
“The viscous tar and the deep barrel gave the young dog no chance of escape. It is impossible to imagine the desperation he must have felt at that moment, alone and screaming with fear,” DCC wrote on Facebook.
It took the vet team hours to remove the tar. Eventually, he was ready for a long, warm bath that finally revealed his damaged, black coat. He had wounds all over his body caused by a rough life.
Later named Kian, the dog was provided with a safe kennel and a nice meal. However, his trust was so shattered that he curled up in a corner and stared at the wall for most of the time.
“His whole body language shows us that he does not trust us yet. We can totally understand him after all he had to go through,” DCC added.
Kian was kept at the clinic until he fully recovered. Despite his lack of trust, his caregivers didn’t give up on him. He was finally provided with everything he ever needed – food, a nice cozy bed, and lots of love from the hoomans.
Showered with everything he ever needed, Kian eventually responded amazingly!
Three Months Is All Took
After three months of TLC and care at DCC, this resilient boi fully blossomed into a brand-new dog. His once-damaged, tar-soiled coat transformed into sleek, shiny black fur that makes him look adorable.
The best thing of all was that Kian finally learned how to trust! He embraces the DCC team with paws wide open and doesn’t want to let go. And, neither do his hoomans!
Kian has become the official DCC dog, joining hundreds of other canines who have found their happy place with their caregivers.
“He has found his home with us at the DCC. He has grown to trust our team and enjoys daily cuddles. He can now enjoy his new life in a group of other young dogs,” his caregivers stated on Facebook.
Today, he has everything he needs and more. Surrounded by lots of friends and given plenty of activities, Kian has never been happier.
He is as far away from reckless ownership as he could possibly be and has a whole team of people who are there for him at any moment. And, isn’t that what every dog longs for in the first place?
