5-Year-Old Boy Feeds Neglected Neighbor’s Dog

When a callous owner suddenly decided to stop feeding this dog, a five-year-old boy stepped up to help. He noticed the dog next door was hungry and continued to cry near the fence. While outside playing, the little boy realized the pup didn’t have food to eat. His big heart told him exactly what to do. He went inside, grabbed a metal bowl, and took on the role of caring for the dog. Word of the dog’s treatment spread through the neighborhood, and a rescue group was finally called in.

The dog’s only source of water in crippling 104-degree heat was the runoff from the A/C unit. A woman soon arrived and noticed the dog’s condition. Her heart broke. She asked the boy if he had been feeding the dog and he said yes. The situation was more dire than she thought. Without the little kid’s intervention, the dog would have starved.

The woman, Koco, spoke with the dog’s owner. He gave her permission to take the dog home. But rescuing him was far from simple. The poor boy was skittish, and every time Koco approached, he backed up and ran off. But she didn’t give up! Then, another issue arose. The dog, out of fear, began to grumble and growl at Koco, even snapping when she came too close.

After a while, Koco was able to slip a leash around the dog’s neck. He wasn’t happy but this was necessary in order to take him home. While leashed, the woman decided to calm the dog down by giving him water before leading him out. The pup was so relieved. He could finally cool off and quench his thirst.

He was taken to the rescuer’s car, where he panted uncontrollably from the heat and nervousness. Soon, he arrived at Koco’s house and was carried inside. The following morning, The dog met his foster sibling. The pup wagged his tail for the first time!

The dog wouldn’t come out of his crate, but Koco continued to give him incentives. She knew that it would take time and TLC to win the dog over and get him to trust his new surroundings.
